Back from France/Back to Real Life

Hello (whoever may be reading this)! After spending a semester abroad in Dijon, France and putting my liver through an alcohol education practical, I have decided it would be wise to start a blog. Some quiet time, for a change! Some time to reflect, to share with the world what I have learned abroad (and in life) so far - to figure out what it is that makes me so happy to go out and discover other cultures. I have no idea in mind for this blog, and I'd really hate for it to be a rant about 'my world'. My world is relatively uneventful, recent travels aside. So I'll start out with baby steps; my first will be a loosely-led diary of my [predominantly failed] post-France culinary attempts, which I'd like to follow up with some advice to people of different cross-sections of America who might be heading to France (or some other part Europe) - this will only stem from my personal experience and some general knowledge, so take it with a grain of salt. Okay, objectives established. Now I have to follow through... because, even if no one is reading my blog, I have to stick with my New Year's resolutions. Finally, this year I'm compiling them into a list, as opposed to shrugging them off as wistful, fleeting thoughts of possible self-improvement, as I did every year before.
Olga's New Year's Resolutions (mostly in chronological order):
1. Learn time management.
2. Start a blog.
3. Look for a summer job/internship that will help me in my future career (no more sketchy internet advertising things, flower shops, and self-proclaimed creative crises).
4. Keep updating blog.
5. Find a summer job.
6. It's May: have a job and start saving money for road trip in August.
7. If I still haven't learned time management, I should start, because having failed to do so, I will be obliged to make up for that by working two very unattractive jobs this summer.
8. Go on road trip across the USA with Jitka, Markus, Elias, Daniel, and Damien!

9. Not be a flake. Keep my promises.
10. Figure out the idea for my senior thesis in International Studies
11. ...and in French Studies.
12. Learn German.
13. Practice total self-control and stop all arguments with my mother.

As you can see, I haven't much unusual to wish for, to hope for, or to work for; my life is fairly simple and my goals are definitely attainable - and that's the way I like it! And it just so happens that 13 is my lucky number : )
Happy New Year!!!
